Alex lives and works in Port Appin, Argyll, as a freelance
artist and designer. Former Head of Design at BBC Scotland,
he now paints in the west coast of Scotland and south-west
France where he and his wife Midge, a textile artist spend
part of the year.
As well as painting, he undertakes design commissions where
the client requires "unusual" or "out of the
ordinary" solutions.
In recent years projects have included a green oak framed
extension to a house in Glen Creran and the design of a new
house in the Strath of Appin.
A member of the Chartered Society of Designers, and former
Scottish committee member, his broad design experience and
expertise places him in a good position to provide creative
solutions to difficult briefs or simply to give overall design
advice to clients.
